Throughout Season 6, Shark Minh Beta demonstrated a decisive and astute investment style, attracting the attention of audiences and startups alike. With 11 deals out of a total of 30 presented deals, Shark Minh Beta ranked second in terms of the number of successfully funded ventures. To date, Shark Minh's Beta Group has officially completed investment procedures for potential startups ADT HITEK and Beecube. These are two of the six deals that Shark Minh Beta successfully closed after the program ended, affirming the impressive success rate of the "new shark's" investments.
Sharing further information about the remaining deals, this "shark" stated that with Recbook, he is currently conducting legal due diligence and will approve the investment when both parties finalize the investment dossier. In the case of startup LaGaia, the parent company has decided to focus on developing the Tinicare method - a more streamlined model - after a period of market research and development.
Shark Minh and LaGaia are continuing negotiations to potentially finalize this deal based on actual developments. Two other deals, Thuyen Xua and Slimcase, while both assessed as having high potential, were mutually decided to be discontinued by Shark Minh and these startups during the due diligence process. He further explained that the reason only Beecube and ADT HITEK received funding was because they met the investor's conditions during the re-evaluation of their capability profiles and management processes.
Shark Minh Beta's investment "appetite" is quite diverse, spanning various industries: technology, fashion, beauty, food and beverage, education, and more. Coming into Season 7, his interests, approach, and strategic advice for startups remain consistent, but have expanded to be even more relevant. Specifically, in his new role as Honorary Consul of Slovenia, Shark Minh Beta will pay greater attention to startups with products or services that can easily expand into international markets, especially in areas where Slovenia and Europe have strengths, such as information technology, healthcare, education, and tourism.
Sharing at the Shark Tank Vietnam Season 7 press conference that just took place, Shark Minh said that his main purpose in coming to Shark Tank is for personal development, alongside bringing more value to the community and society. At Shark Tank, he finds passionate and ambitious young startups to nurture, support, and grow together, echoing the lyrics of the song "Vietnam Oi" that he composed: "So many people, joining hands to build life. Belief in a bright and fresh Vietnam."
He emphasized: “Through the program, Beta Group will have the opportunity to discover potential entrepreneurial talents and support their development. This is how we invest in the future, create new values, and promote the development of both Beta Group and the startup community. For example, last season, we found 'puzzle pieces' for Beta Group, including Beecube and ADT, to partner with young businesses and further develop Beta Group's ecosystem.” He humorously shared: “Since participating in Shark Tank, our Beta Cinemas locations have always been packed with customers.”
The head of Beta Group stated that continuing to participate in the Shark Tank Season 7 reality TV show stems from the core values and goals that the company aims for. He said: “We find a value alignment between ourselves and what the program is aiming for, which is integrity. Integrity in business, integrity with the community, customers, and colleagues. In addition, we can also leverage resources and networks by participating in Shark Tank because this is where investors, experts, and successful entrepreneurs converge. Participating in the program helps Beta Group leverage these resources and networks, thereby finding strategic partners and new cooperation opportunities.”
Shark Minh Beta, whose real name is Bui Quang Minh, is the Chairman of Beta Group. He graduated with First Class Honors from the University of Sydney (Australia), was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, and earned an MBA (Business Administration) from the prestigious Harvard University (USA). Recently, he was also honored by the Governments of Vietnam and Slovenia with a consular patent as Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Ho Chi Minh City, considered a major turning point in his career, from an investment "shark" to a young diplomat.
